I reload too, AND shoot in matches, but that has nothing to do with that. Chambers are checked with headspace gauges.Ironworker was shooting in a Match so He likely reloads. There are multiple ways to check head space without owning Head Space Gauges.
When you use SOMETHING other than the PROPER TOOL and scratch your chamber, you'll THINK "tool junky", but it's YOUR chamber so use what YOU want.Tool junky!

Yea… Till you need one…Tool junky!
Same thing as my big wood screw when I was 14, 64 years ago.I'm surprised no one has said use the appropriate chamber reamer.
I only had to do that once. It jammed into the separated case half turning it by hand and came right out. Easy as pie.

I don't think Brownells makes anything, and if they do, it is very few things.I wish Brownell's made a shell extractor for 6mm.
Whether they do or not..... I can't find one specific to 6mm and I've used both my .223 & .308 shell extractors, or lent them to someone, quite a few times over the decades. A 6mm extractor sure would be convenient.I don't think Brownells makes anything, and if they do, it is very few things.

I like this file idea. I thought about it in the past but forgot it. Thanks for the reminder. In the meantime, I’m keeping the Head Space snug.I belonged to a 1K BR club. Standard equipment on the firing line was a cleaning rod to knock out stuck bullets. The other piece was a round rat tail wood file. The body was taped up to protect the action. Insert file, twist to get a bite on the case, then pull the case out. Several people known for calamities carried one in their range box.
