While there certainly isn't anything wrong with the 270 Win, 280 Rem, 280AI, 30-06, i might go a different direction.

338-06 A-Square.
35 Whelen, or AI.

These are cool. Or if you want a thumper a 9.3x62 - 250gr Accubond has a decent BC. 285gr Partition or Norma Oryx is good for sitting things down.

Depends on brass manufacturer for the 6.5x55. Have yet to see US made brass that needs the bolt opened up or the rim turned to size.

Since the OP gives no information what the rifle will be used for, I'd go with 400 Whelen.
