Carbon removal

I bought a used cz Kevlar about year half ago. I haven’t found something it likes and decided to order the teslong borescope.
Man I had cleaned my barrel or so I thought I used bore tech products and they did amazing job but I had stubborn carbon in first 8” of the barrel. The rest was beautiful.
I finally tried losso on a worn out nylon brush with patch on it and that did the trick.
Since it was used I didn’t know history of it except that the previous owner passed away and didn’t shoot it much.

My question, has anyone tried this or another injector cleaner in their expensive barrel

and does it work well at getting the carbon out ? This stuff is pretty affordable as well

So true. I bought one too. I don’t have “Hawkeye” money. The teslong does everything I need it to do and I can spend the other $900 on a couple new barrels.

I started looking at getting new barrel put on and what it would take (never done it). I would like a 11 twist maybe 10 to be able to shoot 40g better.
I am currently doing ladder test see how good I can get them.
I got a almost full box of sbk 39g. It want to finish this ladder first. I have a feeling I will be mad with the sbk since they more then certainly group nicely and won’t be able to find them lol.
With now seeing my bore clean I can get a true feeling that barrel is clean

I feel like if you enoy cleaning barrels you will can use any product you want. If you own a bore scope and and want to get barrels clean and on to the next thing, because your absolutely busy as hell all the time, you use JB.

After reading a thread on this board about CLR. I Tried it on a severely carbon fouled barrel. Mopped it then a 15 min soak. No more carbon!

I had tried chemicals including CLR, brass brush, JB on a patch, and JB on a patch on a worn brass brush. I couldn't get the shiny carbon out of the grooves. I read this post and tried JB on a patch on a nylon brush. IIt

Bugger. Oh well, it took 2 goes and within 5 minutes all gone, confirmed with Hawkeye bore scope. Thank you to whoever suggested it.

I use brushes in my chamber and JB paste in the bore after first cleaning with Butch's Bore Shine or what have you. I wrap a patch around an undersized bronze or nylon brush and slather the paste on - then about 20-40 strokes, depending on how badly carboned-up. Should look pretty bright after that with a bore scope. I have tried many carbon removal products and the more they seem to be aimed at removing gun carbon - the less effective they were.

You might also try wrapping some bronze wool around the brush instead of the patch. I've found it to clean a bit faster. And, you can build up the tightness of the fit with the wool.

While playing with my new borescope a few years back, a pretty significant carbon ring was noticed on a rifle that came to me very used & that I've had for 30+ years. Unknown total # of rounds. I have about 1800-2000 pushed hard & fast rounds through it. Been using 2/3 Shooter Choice & 1/3 Kroil all along. Nothing else I own has even close to this amount of buildup. It's an Ackley, so slow growth of the shortened case after fireforming may have something to do with it.

The 1st thing tried was Carb-out, scrubbing & brushing & soaking for 3 or 4 days before giving up.

Rechecked after c.100 rds. & it was gone. Unsure if it burned out from all the soaking or was loosened enough & was blown out, but it's gone.

Time for a new barrel?

That barrel is pretty well worn!
