Can 7mm-08 be reamed to 284 Win?

I have been caught by an urge to build a 284 Win rifle. For economical reasons, I have been looking at the possibility of reaming a 7mm-08 to a 284 Win chamber. From reviewing the cases, it looks like a simple reaming job. Correct? Any other pitfalls with such a conversion? The other option is to spend the bucks and rebarrel a long action so I can load to a longer OAL to conserve powder space with heavy, long projectiles.

Not a problem at all.
Cut the chamber for the bullet you plan on using and a short action will be fine. Depending on the bullet it may not come back out of the chamber with a bullet still in the case like my XP100 shooting the 140 Ballistic Tip..
Usually when I have it loaded I plan on shooting it, and then the cases will hop right out in your hand.....
The side of the receiver can be milled out on a short action for extracting a loaded case
but I never figured it was worth the time....
