Calling all 20 cals...Let's see your wildcats!

20 TAC

Silver $$ Contributor
For some time I've been curious as to how many 20 caliber wildcats are floating around out there. I thought this would be a perfect place for everyone to show theirs off. Please feel free to post whatever you have and be sure to include pictures of cases if possible along with some general load information, velocities, forming steps, etc. Looking forward to seeing what you all have!

I shoot a 20-222 rem. Easier than buttered toast. I run Winchester brass in a redding type s bushing die and seat w a 222 seater with a 20 caliber seater inside. It is extremely accurate and puts English on crows. I use a sako l461 w a lilja 11”tw 3gr barrel for a walk around rifle. I also shoot a rem788 and its an eye ball slayer. I mostly shoot 32gr bullets and h4198.

Gotta agree with you on the 20-222! I have two of them also, both in the “Plain Jane” PT&G reamer design. .232” neck…reduce neck diameter, load and shoot. Yet to talk to anyone who said they had a 20-222 that won’t shoot well! Love the H4198 in both of mine also. Great looking 788 and L461!!! Thanks for sharing!

Man, you did a good job on that Sako. I like the polish on the barrel, it's the type of look I like on a nice rifle.

Well, once again I'm going to throw my hat in the ring regarding the 20 calibers, specifically my Tactical 20. My rifle is a Cooper M21 with a 26" barrel. It shoots 32 gr. bullets at around 4200 fps and is a very accurate rifle. I am including some photos of the rifle and some groups. One of the groups is shot with 34 gr. Midsouth Varmint Nightmare, The last is a photo of a mercy killing.20 M21.JPG20 Tac Group.jpg34 gr. VN.jpg4319 chrono.jpgMercy Killing.jpg

Only two I have left. BOTH are my favorites. Top is 20 Vartag and bottom is 20 TAC Both are now mounted on Flat Side Frames. BOTH outshoot my ability, and the kids and grandkids love to shoot them. Amazingly accurate and no recoil. Great teaching tools for the youngsters
Love the Twenties
Doug

Added a couple of 100 yard target. Believe it is the 20 TAC but could be the Vartarg. 10 Shot group on the first one and it was just too tempting. So the second target.;)

Wilson Arms barrel. :)

I will throw one of mine into the mix. I call this cartridge a 20 Falcon. Have found best case forming results using 223 brass as parent. I tried to scale the 6 PPC cartridge dimensions down into a 20 caliber version. Was deliberate about maintaining longer neck length and zero freebore. Little did I know at the time how close this case is to a 20 Javelina Improved. Holds roughly 1.5-2 grains more powder than a 20 Vartarg. Shooting about 20 grains of H4198 at 3,950 fps. Extremely efficient case and accurate. 1st pic shows case forming steps. Was able to achieve basic case forming with existing dies on the shelf. FL bushing die set was made by Whidden. 2nd pic is the Falcon next to a Vartarg case. 3rd pic has a fired cased beside a loaded round. Loves RL-7 and AA2200 equally to the H4198. image1falcon.jpgIMG_3793.jpgIMG_3794.jpg

That's a heck of nice looking design. Like a 222 Rem short in 20 cal. I love that long neck.
