I'm going to use a Bat action with a 28 inch long krieger hv contour barrel with a 1-10 twist and a nightforce scope
And this is a gun you already own or one you're having built?

BTW, you aren't "old school" until you're shooting something with "Ballard" or "Sharps" as part of the name.

Hmmm....I think I qualify!! ;D

Yea all that matters is I'm going to have fun doing something that I enjoy!
This I can agree with. I'm shooting my .308 Mod 70 match rifle in F-class because it's what I have. I don't plan to buy a new 6.5x47 Lapua, at least not until I get good enough with the .308 that I think it's holding me back. (I'll probably be dead by then.)

Is that rifle the real deal or is it on of the reproduction ones?

It comes from here:

Better than the old ones! Steel and close tolerances are much better held. There is none better 'fit & finish' than that from Kirk Bryan and family who own the business! Had this one a 'few' years!! I have two with 7 degree leade in the throat which assist in shooting paper patch. The other two have standard chambers.

Here's what they're capable of if the shooter does his part:

This is ten rounds fired from 1000 yds. off a rest using 120 grs. BP and a 720 gr. all-lead cast bullet in paper patch configuration. I was checking this load primarily for vertical deviation without being concerned for having them centered up but as you can see...the vertical is pretty fair. The inner clanger plate is 20" in diameter. Shot this using aperture sights.

Rick,

You need to be careful with that thing, you might set the grass on fire:-)

You're pretty close to being right! When this photo was taken we had been 16 weeks with 2/10" rain! Hotter than the backside hinges of hell itself!! :o :'(

Yea it shoots really well. I always heard that the real ones and new ones all shot good.
Either way its a beautiful rifle and some day I'm sure I'll own one .
