30-06 compatibility with RE 26

Never owned a 30//06 but from what I've read on other forums such as LRH, Rl-26 is great with 180 gr bullets pushing it close to factory 300 Win velocities.

RL19 is pure magic with that weight class bullet in the 30-06s I’ve tried. Out of a half dozen correct burn rate powders, it was the clear winner.

Best of luck

You are quite right! This from this website."Reloder 26 offer high velocities in large magnum cases. Achieve awesome ballistics with new Reloder 26 from Alliant Powder. The propellant’s burn speed falls between that of Reloder 22 and Reloder 33, and it incorporates EI® technology to produce extremely high velocities in magnum cartridges. Reloder 26 has a high bulk density that allows larger powder charges, and it provides a consistent, controlled response to temperature changes."

It also states that it is made by Nitrochemie, in Switzerland. I wonder if the RL62 is imported then - as an alternative to 4350?
I don’t know what RS62 is but I know that it is not “RL62” because afaik there is no such thing. It may be the same as RL16 but that would just be a guess.

RS62 is a powder manufactured by Reloader Swiss. Several powders imported by Alliant are RS powders. I think that RS62 and RE-17 are one in the same.

I have heard that, but I have no first hand knowledge. RL16 is the non-temp sensitive version of RL-17. RL-23 is the non-temp sensitive version of RL22. Note the order of numbering. Also, I’m not saying these versions are identical in load data. Just that they can be used in the same application. I use both RL16 and RL17 in the .30-06. I have not tried RL22 but I will. And if I can get some RL23 I will try that also.

I made a mistake. I rechecked the Reloader Swiss chart and RS 60 is the same as RE-17. It is considered one of the "high energy" powders that are out like VV 550. Also fits with 414/760

RS 62 is ever so slightly slower and falls in with the 4350's

Yes, I knew that RL17 was a high energy powder. I’ve seen various European designations but never attempted to remember them.

If RS62 is slower than RL17 then it does not have an American counterpart? RL16 falls into the same range as the 4350’s but is generally listed as quicker than them or RL17.
