Caliper recommendations

Soft rubberized foam matting around all of my work and reloading benches has saved damage to a lot of things. Hated when I'd drop a newly sized piece of brass on the concrete. Always seemed to land neck first >:( Then it was back to the press for another lubing and sizing, provided the neck wasn't damaged so bad it had to be trashed. I've dropped plenty of cases and tools (not calipers yet, fingers crossed) after putting the matting down. Haven't had anything get damaged since.

I have the foam padding around my reloading area and saved me many of times. I have hard rubber matts around my machines so I'm not standing on concrete. The foam would never work around metal swarf. The hard matt shattered the screen on a pair of digital calipers the other day which prompted the HF caliper purchase. The shattered pair still works though...they can only take so much abuse, lol.

Yeah I suppose the hard rubber mat is still pretty hard, but any type of matting sure makes it a heck of a lot nicer on the feet and knees when standing around. Hate standing on bare concrete for too long.

After reading through all the 7 pages, it suprises me that no one has not once mentioned Sylvac, witch no doubt makes high quality digital calipers.

The Sylvac S CAL PRO µ, is certainly a step above what Mitutoyo and B&S currently offers. Although they are not cheap.

I got one some time ago, and it certainly is more accurate and repeatable then my Mitutoyos.
The entire S cal pro range is of very good quality, although the 'µ' version really sticks out.

Ares , do you or have you used the bluetooth facility & Sylvac App at all ?

Mike.
