Soft rubberized foam matting around all of my work and reloading benches has saved damage to a lot of things. Hated when I'd drop a newly sized piece of brass on the concrete. Always seemed to land neck first
Then it was back to the press for another lubing and sizing, provided the neck wasn't damaged so bad it had to be trashed. I've dropped plenty of cases and tools (not calipers yet, fingers crossed) after putting the matting down. Haven't had anything get damaged since.
