Quote: California lawmakers on Thursday voted to raise taxes on guns and ammunition to pay for security improvements at public schools and gun violence prevention programs.

The federal government already taxes the sale of guns and ammunition nationwide. The government gives that money to the states, which spend it on wildlife conservation and hunter safety programs.

California’s proposed tax, if it becomes law, would be 11% — matching the highest tax imposed by the federal government on guns.

The first time I was in California was in 1959, as a teenager too young to have a driver's license. At that time I thought California was the Promised Land. Now the only promise is that you couldn't pay me enough money to move to California.

I lived CA twice in my school years Spent more time there finally left and have never looked back. All of that was before the drug crazies took over the state

I left SoCal in 2005, ..... moved to Florida ... really like it here. Would never go back to SoCal.

We are hoping all of those leaving the Super Blue States would be Conservatives.

As Red as most think Texas is, they forget that untill Ronald Reagan came along, Texas was one of the strongest Democratic strongholds in the Country. True, it was “Conservative Democrats”, (which is now the equivalent of a Republican).

I’m in NY and here that all the time. Can’t imagine having that attitude for your fellow countryman. I’ll keep fighting. I have all my family here, and my kingdom is not of this world. So in the end, it really doesn’t matter.

The last time I was in California I was hit in the left cheek with a rotten green pepper as I walked off the plane.
I remember the guys face that threw it.
He set the tone for me about California. Long time ago and I never forgot.
I couldn’t care less what happens to the entire state.
I’d rather live here in New York than California. That’s a strong statement.
