Cabela's customer service

Cabelas really messed up on that vortex pst scope sale as it hit just about every gun site almost instantly and people ran to buy one and Cabaleas online store said "In stock".
Cabaleas brought that on themselves and should have posted something like "only 19 remaining" or "out of stock as soon as it was & that was within a day.
I have my own good & bad customer service from them.
I don't shop there any longer though.

Don't get too upset. The Vortex PST scopes aren't that great anyhow. Mid grade optics at best and very thin tubes that are very torque sensitive. Optical quality on 24x falls off quite a bit and the zero stop system with shims is more of a novelty feature than anything functional and repeatable. If you do get a PST, make dang sure your scope rings are lapped really good because it doesn't take much scope ring misalignment to bind up the internal elevation and windage adjustment components.

Probably a good reason why they were 50% off. Half off the normal price is about all that optic is really worth in my opinion.

I got one. I bought a pair of Rockys about 15 years ago. The glue on soles fell off so I called about the lifetime warranty, I told the rep that the boots look new and are barely worn. She said 15 years "is the life of a boot" LOL
 
I live close enough to the KC, KS Cabelas store to shop there often. I've also ordered a lot of merchandise from them over the years. In my opinion, their customer service is outstanding. That said, I have had a few issues with them on Saturday Door Busters and in regards to transferring new firearms from a distant store to my local store. Whenever I've had an issue that wasn't resolved by a clerk to my satisfaction, I have bumped the issue up to a dept mgr or store manager and then gotten satisfaction. I've even had dept mgrs from at least two distant stores step in and call my local mgr to resolve issues for me. That is great customer service!
 
Why would you expect Cabelas to warranty a "life time warranty" that isn't their brand?
Wouldn't you call Rocky's?

o_O LOL I have had tires last 1 day and as I get older I have tires on my gTx that are 15 years old.
They sold the boot and advertise a lifetime warranty. If it were Bean they would honor that.
I wasn't bitching. I just found it amusing.

Back in 1984, (having moved to WYO.) I ordered my first "real" pair of hunting boots. They were $200, a lot of money for me then.. I studied their boot catalog until the pages started falling apart. I ordered a pair and used them 5 years. Always thought they felt a little tight but, I just went with it. So, around 1989 I get a boot catalog from them and the same boots are still being sold at the same price. But, at the end of the description section it said in red letters...Order 1/2 size larger!! I immediately called them and pleaded my case. The lady on the phone said they would check it out. Next day I got a call and they told me they had found the original order and boot description. They said they would send me a box so I could return the boots postage paid. Two days later I get the box with the pre-paid label and a pair of brand new boots 1/2 size larger!! Customer for life!!
 
Rumored Bass Pro may buy them out..then what kind of service can U expect when they are bigger and have greater market share?! :)
 
I've been a Loyal Cabela's customer for over 25 years because of the outstanding service they used to have. Things are changing and not for the better. The last two years I have given my wife my Christmas wish list for Cabela's and she ordered "In Stock" items both years only to have the orders updated to Back ordered. This year they canceled the order 1 week before Christmas. No sorry or let us make this right. I ordered a magazine carrier after Christmas this year. They have sent the wrong item 3 times. After the second mistake, I was on the phone for 30 minutes so the woman made sure I got the right one. Another swing and a miss. I own a business and know problems will come up but Cabelas seems to have some serious systematic problems that will end up sinking the company if not corrected.
