I think it depends on what you use the rifle for. E.g., SRBR, LRBR, PRS, XTC, gdogging, hunting, plinking, or just personally looking for small groups.

I have a 7mag that I didn't clean for 8 years....... 1 shot 1 deer.

About 3 years ago, on a whim, I tried Hoppes Black in the non aerosol pump container. Thought it was for the AR crowd, but what the heck lets see what it does. It WORKS very good on both carbon and copper. Not saying it the best and only thing to use. I clean every other group with it at a match. Back home after a match I use Patchout with Accelerator on a nylon brush, letting it soak overnight. Makes me happy!!!

Another kan of worms;] - how often to use your fav abrasive. My smith [who shoots verry well] uses abrasives every 150 rounds. Then a friend uses it after every shoot to get that mirror finish.

After every Aggregate.

After each match but not to the point of a mirror finish. I Don't believe that is needed or maybe even not good. I want the lands looking pretty good, what's left in the groves does not concern me. For all the claims printed on all the bottles.....pretty disappointing in my mind. Lots of room for better products that actually do what they claim.

Been using Butch’s for a couple decades and no difference in how it cleans for me and my method. Does the same as it always has.

Kind of relieved to hear this. I finally got a bottle after hearing so many good shooters talk about it. The ammonia smells strong but it doesn't do much.
