Butches bore shine

"]KG12 without a doubt is the most aggressive copper remover that I have tried and I've tried just about everything. Boretech is a close second."

Jim,
Is it more aggressive than Sweets 7.62?
So what have you found the best for carbon before the JKG12 ?

Yes I have found it is and more aggressive than Barnes.

Thanks for the information, may pick some up for the occasional stubborn bore.

From the ones I have used and based on the borescope:

1. JB Bore Paste is the most aggressive cleaner
2. Iosso is a close second
3. KG-12 is the most effective chemical copper cleaner, significantly better than Bore Tech
4. KG-1 Carbon Remover and Slip 2000 Carbon Cutter both do well at getting out carbon

Test results on several copper cleaners.

After seeing these test results, now I have to try KG-1. I love Eliminator for copper removal, and It makes Eliminator look weak!

I've been using Eliminator for a few months now. It's nice stuff, but I've never had it actually get all of the copper out and stop making blue patches without having to resort to a different method. On the last barrel I cleaned, I ran Eliminator for 4 days after 100 rounds of 284. Still made bright blue just before I washed all of the solvent out and used KG-12. This is with a low round count F-Open barrel with minimal firecracking.

KG-12 gets it all out, and subsequent applications of Eliminator produce no blue. Borescope shows completely clean.

I've also used JB to finish getting the copper out. JB bore paste gets it all out, and subsequent applications of Eliminator produce no blue.
Borescope shows a beautiful, shiny, clean barrel.

So, I still use the Eliminator for light cleanings, and to get the carbon out, or started out.

Same here, hpshooter. I once toasted a stainless barrel with an overnight soak of Butch's. Extenuating circumstances include the rifle was shot on a rainy day so may have had water in the bore and also and may have had also had some lead fouling. Anyway, first patches came out rust red and that was that.
yes using Sweets I took two rifles shooting 1/4 -1/2 groups to over an inch. no cleaning at all would have been better

I was also using Eliminator until I saw that test. KG-12 works great, but if you don't have a bore scope you will still need Eliminator to check for blue since KG-12 doesn't color the patches.

Yes I have found it is and more aggressive than Barnes.
Years ago I soaked various bullets overnight in different copper solvents then reweighed them in the morning. Barnes worked best on Barnes bullets but not as effective on the conventional jacketed bullets.

That's what I found.
