Burris Sig Zee 10MOA insert mis-marked

I have three of the 30mm Burris Signature Zee rings that come with two pair of 10MOA inserts. One of the six 10MOA inserts that I have is mis-marked. The -10 is the fatter half and the +10 is the thinner half on this one set.
I did a little head scratching before discovering the marking error but all was well after making the discovery. But Murphy's Law got me. I removed the scope from a sold rifle and recently put it back on a new build. I was wondering why my new 20MOA base wasn't yielding 20MOA of offset when I remembered the mis-mark.
I need to re-mark before this happens again. Any ideas? The area where the +10 and -10 are marked is really tiny.
And has anyone else found a mis-marked set?

For the marking aspect of your issue I'd heat a small flat screwdriver for the - mark and a small phillips for the + mark. As for the mis-marked sets ,no I've never run across any... and I've got quite a few sets both 1" and 30mm.

Good idea on the heated screwdrivers. I have a jewelers set that will work just fine.

I had a mismarked insert a while back but I can't remember what it was. Since they're molded I would imagine there would be a bunch of mismarked ones out there. If the mold is wrong I would think Burris (or whoever is molding them) would either fix the die or toss it.

The below post I made was from June 8, 2008 in regards to someones question just like yours. I hope the scope rings you have are from old stock and not that Burris has another mix-up with ring inserts.


JUNE 8, 2008.....I just got off the phone with Larry in the Tech. dept. of Burris and he said the company that makes the inserts for them incorrectly marked the +10 and -10 inserts. In my pkg. I have 3 +10 only one of which is thicker, both of the other +10's are the same thickness as the one -10 that was in the pkg.

He said they have been aware of this problem for about 3 weeks and are awaiting shippment of correctly marked inserts from the company. Said it should be any day now. I am now on the waiting list.

Thanks, Coverdog. I bought all three of my 30mm Zees at different times, and I'm fairly sure the mismarked ones were in the first set - probably purchased in 2009, maybe 2008.
