building an unclassed rifle....stock question

building an unclassed gun, just building it to outshoot my buddies. Will be single shot rem action chambered in 6br....the question revolves around the stock. Shooting will be 100-250yd, ONLY. Gun will be shot with a front rest and rear bag

would there be any advantage in using a laminate 1000yd stock over a dedicated short range stock? The long range stocks are so easy to get....the short range are damn near impossible to buy online.

I don't think there is ,much of advantage with way. But, if you ever decide to shoot 600 or 1000 the long range stock is an advantage. Now , I know this because I use a short range stock at 1000. I havve come to learn now it is a disadvantage. My advice is go with the long range stock unless you never instend to shoot short range benchrest which does have stock restictions.

Have a look at the GRS stocks from Norway. There is a US importer. They have a few models that would be a good compromise I have a Bifrost on a 223 FTR rifle, that doubles as a varmint rifle. An offsider has a Beserk with a Howa for much the same job. Very clever ergonomic designs.
