Stock Question

I know this is a stupid question because they are 2 completely different style of stocks but I need some input since bench shooting is almost non existent here. I'm building my first bench gun, its for informal shooting only, built in a 700 action with a Krieger HV barrel. I will be shooting alot at 100-300 yards with a fair amount at 600-1000 yards. The 2 stocks I'm looking at is the Shehane ST1000 and the Tom Meredith TMBR. I know one is for long range and one for 300-less but which stock would be a better dual purpose stock.

I personally like the MBR's better for whatever thats worth...

If you are not going to be competing in registered matches, as in IBS or NBRSA short range matches, you can use the Shehane. If you opt for registered short range matches, the Merideth will meet the regulations fo LV and HV.

I find that using a short range stock (one with a taper in the butt) at long range is an easy transition to make. Shooting a LR stock at short range is much more cumbersome...FWIW

Actually, you are not too far from Dublin, Ga where they hold several IBS score shoots every year. There is also Rachels Glen, Al holds a group match or two each year. I would build the gun to meet competition rules....you're going to tire of shooting against factory guns at informal club shoots. There may be some NBRSA clubs near also.
