Bug Salt Gun 2.0

I had my chick get me one for my birthday in September, and finished out the fly season with it. It got to where I was leaving the doors open just to let more "game" in the house.

I can hardly wait for this coming season, and just hope that the game commission doesn't impose any restrictive rules or shorter seasons on my new sport. I'm pretty sure that they'll start requiring a tag or stamp. jd
how much salt is piled up in the house? this thing sounds like it would be lotta fun

Well, the fact is, that our house-keeping technique is -- ahem-- less than immaculate. With dog hair, cat hair, spilled powder, and spent primers, a few pounds of salt wouldn't much be noticed.:p My wife usually has some kind of project going on that looks like a deranged chemist is at work. Also, the dog does a lot of sniffing around the place looking for anything he might have lost, and he probably vacuums a lot of it up. jd

LOL- our place could be a “bit” cleaner— probably shouldnt worry about it. have good weekend

This reminds me I have dust patterns on the ceiling of my shop where someone bet Larry he couldn't hit his hat. Ratshot do spread. Things were nutty in the 80's:)

When I left my last house there was the clear outline of a starling made by ratshot that hit around him on the drywall in my coalstove room...kinda like a trophy without the trophy.

I have had one of these for quite awhile. I take it outside on the deck while cooking out. My wife gets a good laugh watching me kill flies and anything else that comes in range. My lab goes on high alert when I cock it, she switches from a bird dog to a bug dog instantly!

We had family here from California at Thanksgiving and when he saw it he ordered two for him and his brother. His brother is a missionary pilot in Indonesia, so they have some huge spiders and small geckos called cicaks over there. He sent me a video of him chasing a cicak all over the kitchen counter. He said it was the best Christmas present he got this year!

I just discovered this old thread that piqued my interest! I too am plagued with carpenter bees; they've invaded my Ponderosa and bored numerous holes! The plus side is that I get to have a little aerial pistol practice with .22 shot loads. I use a Walther P22, but they won't eject OR even extract, so I have to knock out the empties with a cleaning rod! I'm solving that problem - getting a Smith 617 6" next week! A buddy gave me some 357s loaded with Speer capsules, and they worked even better in my M65. I'd like to get some of those and load them myself. Any advice on loads, etc?? Bullseye, Red Dot?? How much?? I found a source for shot - https://www.ballisticproducts.com/Chilled-Lead-Shot-12-13mm-11_bag/productinfo/02612/.
Any experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks for reviving this one, Made me laugh a good bit!

While all those methods are fun, they dont make much of a dent in the population. What I do is mix a little pesticide in some vaseline and squirt it up in their holes. when they go in to lay their eggs, it kills them. I find several dead ones where I treated the holes. I have greatly reduced the population around my farm

That’s no fun. We like shooting crap around here!
