Has anyone actually tried this gun before? Does it work as advertised?

Yes, I have one. I use it on the deck in the summer to shoot carpenter bees and wasps. You have to get pretty close to them for a kill though. Was wondering if there is something else it will shoot.

What's funny is when it puts holes in their wings and they can no longer fly.

I use it all the time when camping or something outdoors with a trashcan nearby. Its great fun.

Me too. Never heard of a carpenter bee. There are carpenter ants in this part of the world.

Yep, Carpenter Bees (they get the name because they winter and bore in wood to do the larvae laying) are serious pests (bigger then your typical Bumble Bee). Many moons ago I spent two days treating a house (not mine but friends) for the darn things. They had piloted holes all over (and I mean many) the outside wood siding and soffits. Seriously destructive little things for sure. Males cant sting but, the females can.
Not sure if the salt would be effective in killing the larvae in the bored tunnels though. I had to spray a special insecticidal dust up into every hole to kill the next generation. I think they have about 4-6 chambers per tunnel.

Look you can waste your time trying to get table salt to shoot but guys are shooting awesome groups using Himalayan Pink Salt. It is the way to go like Varget and H4350. (Sorry I could not resist). lol.. But actually I wonder if a larger gain size would kill better.

Got one works pretty good, 2 1/2 to 3 ft range.

Looks like fun. i'd think you'd want to use sugar sand or something other that salt which is corrosive and bad for your lawn.

Some sellers won't ship to California. Great example of the lunacy in other states.

I've shot flys and bugs with a pellet gun using felt cleaning pellets.

I have a Bug-A-Salt that was a gift from a good friend. This one has the ultimate fly-hunting accessory; a LASER pointer. Yes, it really does work. Note that this one is also camo pattern, an important factor when stalking the wily San Diego house fly.
