Budget 6mm bullet

That would be a YouTube channel I would watch.

Aside from that one guy on YouTube that tests stuff with his AR-15 head to head, I never see anyone test anything head to head and publish it.

I have had zero time to shoot, but I need to change that. I've always published my tests here.

Although, it is a thankless job. People will suddenly pop up saying "look what I found" and not give the author any credit. They just magically "discover" these hidden gems... I guess we all copy.

I do find it odd the people that folks choose these days as approved "influencers". And others are never approved. Or maybe it's not so odd after all... (Side note).

Maybe i just need to test them then. If i ever get a chance. Shooting has been at bottom of the list.

I'm thinking barrel break in and positional practice, not sure they would be great for a match

I think these are the best bet in 105 range for economics. i posted I just got for 32c delivered. If you read up on them though they have never been considered by popular vote super target grade for matches due to quality control - occasional fliers. But was that when they were made on an old machine which has been since replaced? Who knows. So far I have only shot one 1/2 moa 5x at 1k and it was with these bullets. But I have only shot at 1k like 9 times so just getting started and waiting for spring I was planning on using them for long range varmint and steel shooting.

I think their quality is way better than before.
 
First, I can afford to shoot Berger 105's, and do. That said, I also have experience with other brands, especially during the "Great Component Shortage" of recent passing. In both my 1:8 twist Hart 6BR and my 1:8 twist Kreger 6 Dasher the best results I obtained were with Barnes Match Burners and Varget. Weight sorted Nosler RDF's also gave acceptable results. All firing was at 600 yards. I have never tried Speer TNT's in 6 mm but I think they would be very frustrating at 600 yards in any condition except dead calm. I have used Sierra 85 gr. HPBT's in the 6 BR at 100 and 200 yard VFS matches and did well. I think the Speer TNT's would also work well in this game. My only experience with a TNT bullet was in Hunter Benchrest using a tight neck 308 and 125 gr TNT's. They were just as accurate as Berger 125 FB's in my rifle at 100 and 200 yards. Because I shoot very little practice and compete mostly at local 600 yard F-Class and BR matches I don't burn through a lot of Berger's and can still afford them. I do agree that they are very pricey, but they are the best in my opinion. YMMV.

Which Barnes Match burner did you use?
 
I just did a quick 25 bullet comparison on my Hollands comparator. The cheap Hornadys won round one!

Hornady 105 = .0005 variance in BTO
115 Sierra dtac = .0008
107 Bergers = .001
112 Barnes MB = .003

Most were within .0005 or less but Berger had 2 out of spec and Barnes had a bunch.

How much of a difference in drag variance this can make down range I don't know. a few thou isn't much

Varget costs more than I wish it did for sure.
Bullets, are another story. You gotta find them for sale first to buy then at any price.
I will shoot Good bullets or what is the point? Bart's Avengers 68 GR were $355/1000.
Lapua brass is around $150/100.
I don't have a $7000 rifle and a $4000 scope.
But, My Savage LRPV was $1400 and the Sightron was $1000 three years ago.
I shot out the Savage 8 twist and needed to replace the barrel and decided to go with a 12 twist.
I bought a Wilson from Brad at Urbanrifleman and am just starting working with it, but so far it
has exceeded my expectations.
I completly understand being aware of costs but I will shoot a little less if I have too and
hopefully can continue to find the best componants to do so.
What dosn't cost more than we would like in this day and age?
