Buch chuck or 4 jaw when using a steady rest?

All in all, a lot of the responders are assuming the bores and the OD are concentric, not necessarily so!

How would a range rod or Gordy rod make a bore straight?

The way I understand the rods to work is that your aligning that section of the bore that will eventually be the chamber. From there the bore can do what ever but you know you know the bore and chamber are as perfectly alligned as possible.

Again, just trying to get a better understanding before I start.

I'm not seeking 1/4 MOA however I'd love 1/2 MOA. I'm not a bench rest shooter, I shoot mainly prone and the occasional varmint that wonders onto the farm.
