Brownells returns

Today I was surprised that Sinclair/Brownells was not willing to credit my MC for a return of a NIB (unopened) Bench Source Annealer. In an attempt to be fair, I paid the cost to return it. It is still in stock at Brownells. What do you think?

There is a lot not stated:
-how long did you have it?
- are they refusing to take it back?
- when did you return it?
- when you say not willing to credit your card, are they planning to send a check?

I've never had any issue with returns to Brownells, but I have only had a couple vs the hundreds of orders I have placed.

I made two returns at Brownells last year. No problems. They credited my card. One was a Timney trigger that my 9mm PCC beat to death and the other was a DPMS upper receiver that was damaged.

I am also suprised,
There is a lot not stated:
- how long did you have it? About 2-5 days
- are they refusing to take it back? Yes
- when did you return it? Maybe 2-5 days from delivery
- when you say not willing to credit your card, are they planning to send a check?- At this point no credit has been offered
- maybe it is related to they no longer an AMP Annealer dealer

✔️I would like to get this resolved as I would like continue to buy from Brownells

It is sad to see this type of behavior. They better return your money one way or another or you could get them for mail fraud.

Just curious how long you waited to return it. Brownell's return policy states that items returned within 45 days of delivery will get a refund to the original method of payment and items returned after 45 days of delivery will be issued a store credit in the form of a Brownell's gift card. Since you stated that "Sinclair/Brownell's was not willing to credit my MC for a return" I was wondering if you had exceeded the 45 day return stipulation on your credit card purchase.

Customer service definitely changed after Brownells acquired Sinclair’s I too have had very poor CS from Brownells. One package was never received and CS told me to take it up with the shipper who did nothing for me. Another order was shipped several days after I had cancelled it and sales taxes were deducted from my return refund even though the taxes were never charged originally. Finally gave up trying to resolve these and ended up out significant $$$. After these fiascos I really considered sending back everything I ever bought from them for a refund under their customer satisfaction policy. Based on your experience I guess they wouldn’t have honored the policy anyway. I would now only buy from them as a very last resort. So sad since Sinclair’s was always great to deal with.

Back around 2012, Brownells had a Christmas sale where they put AR parts on sale each day for a few days. The deal was you had to buy it while on sale for 24 hours, then the next tranche was up and on sale the following day. I bought an item the second day and the next day it was on sale for a lower price. I emailed them and go no response. So, I promised myself that I would not send them another dime. And I haven't. In fact, I haven't missed them for 8 years now, but they don't care.

Plus I really miss the Sinclair catalog.

These, among others, are the reasons Brownells went from being my go to supplier to my supplier of absolute last resort. Too many other smaller suppliers that are happy to have my $$$.
The Sinclair catalog was cool.

Full disclosure: I've only done one return to Brownells. So I'm a newbie in that regard. (And I'm still waiting for credit. I called them and they said they're backed up to do post-holiday returns.)

The OP said "I paid the cost to return it.". Did you initiate the return through their Returns process? If one exists, I didn't see a way for me to pay the shipping - it appeared they paid it no matter what. It spit out a shipping label with all the info they care about to know when it gets there it's a return.

If it was returned without an RMA number or some other "This is a return." identification on it - produced by them - I wonder if it's off someplace odd like the Brownell's Island of Misfit Packages or something along those lines.

They didn’t want to discuss it. I obviously upset them.
ive returned things to brownells that i had for at least a year with no problems but thats been awhile. i to wonder about the details but if youve done nothing to cause problems id call back and talk to someone else.

This action would likely end up with attorneys. The cost would be prohibited on a $1000 item. Eventually, this all goes away and Brownell's wins.

If you paid with a credit card then file a challenge with your credit card company - chances are that will resolve it.
