broke my first Jewell trigger

about a month or 6 weeks ago I blanked a primer shooting my 6 BR-DX and the firing pin wouldnt cock,,I took the trigger apart and cleaned it and it would function but still didnt feel right,,I took it back apart today and a little piece fell out of it,,after looking at a schematic of the trigger I could see the upper lever sear was broken where it slides on and the spring is bent,,after a call to Jewell they said to bag it up and box it up and send it in and they would fix it,,it was the first Jewell I bought for a 700 VLS 6mm Rem in the late 90`s and has had I would guess well over 10,000 rounds and possibly twice that many,I bet it`s been in 10 different rifles over the years

I am not complaining about the trigger as it has been a good one and they are gonna fix it,,I just had never seen this happen in person ,,I just hope I get it back as good as it was before as I have had a few and some are better than others and this was a good one,,

It happened to me also. I sent my bolt off to have the firing pin hole bushed. That cured the problem. If it every happens to me again, I’ll consider buying a Bix-n-Andy Trigger.

There was also problems with the Bix n Andy Triggers. It pays to always have a spare trigger in your range box. I have had both triggers fail in a match. It pays to have a spare trigger in a hanger so you can change triggers quickly.

It happens on custom actions as well.

Mine happened when I popped a primer on a very hot day. I am more careful about keeping my rounds out of direct sunlight and not leaving rounds in a hot chamber for long periods. My load was with H4895 and it was supposed to be temp insensitive. My gunsmith put a new Jewell in and sent the broken one back for repair. Cost me $50. I now use Varget, but still pay attention to keep my ammunition from getting too hot.
