Brass or Aluminum reducing inserts for Chargemaster

I got mine today and it won't fit in my Chargemaster.

My RCBS unit is about three years old, would that make a difference? The O.D. of the brass insert is too large to fit in the tube.
Should I try to sand it down? Please advise.

Joe

If you don't have the old tube, you may have proud threads. Had that happen once before. Don't worry, I will take care of you. Get me an internal measurement and I will spin another one up and replace it.

I got mine as well and even put it to use yesterday using Retumbo and H1000 and worked flawlessly!!
Thanks for the great addition to the Chargemaster and improving it's accuracy!!!

The closest measurement I can get with my Starrett digital calipers is .298". It's blades are "offset" trying to do an I.D. and that's the only tool I have for an inner diameter. Just to check, I took a 19/64" drill bit (.2969") and it fit inside my tube, so my measurement of .298" is pretty close.
The insert you sent measures .3085" on the turned down portion.

I also tried to fit a .308 Sierra Matchking bullet into my tube and it won't fit. So I'm confident of my measurements.

Yep, that's an oddball tube dimension there. Only had that happen 1 other time and I've sold a bunch. I will get you one spun down to .296 and get it out to you today, no problem. Thanks.

I bought four inserts and MDM was great to do business with. I received my inserts yesterday. Late last night I inserted them into two of my powder dumps and tested 20 loads of H 4350 and they threw exactly 43.0 all 20 times. In the past when I use to use McDonalds straw it would dribble powder after removing the funnel off the scale. So far these new inserts do not dribble powder like the straws did. Also my 14 old son that works in my reloading sweat shop and does a lot of the powder charging was really excited how well they worked.

Thanks

Shane

Thanks or the kind words. Just got a report from a guy in Oklahoma that said he had 1 overthrow in loading 150 rounds last night. Thanks for the good feedback guys.

Did the first "real" test. Loaded match rounds for next week. Of 81 weighed charges of 44.8 Varget, only one over (+0.1). Happy. Great product. Would have at least 20% overweights with the McD straw. Drew

Recieved a couple of these and they make the nice chargemaster even better. :) Super fellow to deal with and thanks so much for donating 10.00 of the money to the Wounded Warrior fund. They can use all they can get and you are a stand up guy for the good deed.

Take care,
Dan

I would like one of each color, please PM me with the details and I will get the funds out to you.

Thanks , Bob

Having one that screws into the end would be neat. Are the ends all tapped the same in a common thread pitch and diameter?
