Brake - false cap accuracy

This may be an odd question but does anyone have any idea the POI or even accuracy variation one could expect going from a muzzle brake to a false cap?

Thinking of having a brake put on a new barrel but wanted a false cap to for some of the local matches that don't allow breaks. Just wondering if someone has done this and what they experienced.

Thanks

mshelton: I had a 308 done with a brake and the thread protector. When switching from one to the other I can see about a 2" shift in the point of impact at 200 yds. Usually high & to the right. I know where it's going to go, so just do the clicks before I even fire the first shot. P.O.I. is centered with the brake, and with the cap the shot(s) are at the 1 to 2:00 position. Groups are always smaller with the brake.

Frank.
What happens to the tune if you just take the brake off and leave the threads bare??
Thanks.

My suggestion would be to match the weights of both the brake & the cap. This by no means guantees the same POA but it certainly won't hurt. I have done this in the past & really haven't seen a big variation in target impact. I also agree with Preacher & FDSchuster. Normally groups will be better with the brake but that's not your question.

I gotcha, a false cap in the same weight range as the brake, kinda like a tuner or keeping it in the same tune.
