Bore sighter

When you look down the barrel, it helps to back way the hell off (at least a couple of feet; more is better) and center the aim point as much as possible. Watch out for bench flex when you come back to look through the scope.

I use 100 yards when possible. Remember, adjusting the turrets when bore sighting is opposite of adjusting from POI to POA. if the cross hairs are low, you adjust the turrets down. If cross hairs are high on the bore sighted target, take the elevation turret up. Same principle with windage adjustments.

Put a target on backer at 100, put a target dot on the center of target, aim, fire, find bullet hole, go back to the dot, then move cross hairs to the bullet hole. Aim at dot again fire, bullet hole should be very close to aim point, make final adjustment. done.

What I found out that works pretty good is to slide in my bore guide and rod tube in to the action to bore sight it on a target. the extra length seems to help me get a better look and closer to hitting in the middle of the target. maybe it's the smaller aperture looking through the rod guide that helps?

You need to make sure you have a solid front and rear rest for this to work.

I regularly see guys at the range doing this while resting the front of the rifle and supporting the rear on the shoulder. Needless to say, it doesn't work too well.

Sounds right.

Put your rod guide into the action with the piece that slips over your cleaning rod. Your eye will center the target. Practice makes perfect.
