Bore sighter

I use SiteLite, I think the SL-100. I've bore sighted several scopes at 100 yards and it's always within a few inches.

Ok thanks they are good but don’t want to spend that much monies
I think it's like 100 bucks. I doubt you'll get one much cheaper than that. At least not one that will work well. You can always go with the old school method...remove the bolt and look down the barrel. I can usually get on paper that way.

ya i know old school method may be the route I take.

I've used a Bushnell arbor type for years. Out of curiosity I ordered a cheap, 'no name' laser kit on eBay. Surprisingly, it works very well. Multitude of sizing and alignment rings lets me use it on .17 through .50 caliber bores to get an initial scope setting that is close enough for 100-yard adjustment to get you on target. Be sure to get the green laser for anything much over 25 yards, since red fades pretty quickly with distance and light.

I was taught to sight thru bore at a long distance like 600 yards, can do that anywhere, then raise the POI a few MOA for your target at the zero distance such as 100 yds or 200 yds. The picture thru the bore seems sharper to me at longer distances.
