Bore scoped

I had mine checked (2nd time) a couple of years back, no erosion again. The 'smith said that the results from my two "visits" and family history of no "bore erosion" I can go another 10 years. The new formula "solvent" from the second visit was a lot less revolting than that from the first. The result was the same though, it turned a single shooter into a "full automatic scatter gun".

Lost Mom in '03 due to barrel blockage. The Smith keeps a close eye on my barrel for erosion. So far rifling is strong and no "dark spots"... He insists on scoping it every 5 years...

Just had my 4th in October, all is good, return visit in 5 years. The Gunsmith told me after my first one, no matter how the prep goes (after 4 of them IMO it’s no big deal, just get it done), the alternative is much worse. Glad yours worked out ok, one less thing to worry about. Peace of mind is kinda nice.

In all seriousness a bore scope probably saved my father's life. He is 68 and they discovered a section of pitting in his barrel. Thanks to solvent treatments every 3-4 weeks the pitting appears to be shrinking.

If you have been putting off a bore scope GO.

Appointment with the Smith Tuesday morning. Not looking forward to the pre-scoping preperation Monday. Hope to get a nice photo of the back side of my teeth.

I just stick a piece of the bullet in a brown bag and send it off for offsite evaluation. That way I keep my gun at home ( in the safe of course) and still get to use it when needed . I've got problems , my gun has problems with anesthesia.
I did that this year and while a little gross was much better than the alternative!
