Dirty L-W barrel bore. Can seem to get it clean.

Ive got a Lother-Walther barrel on a Swedish m41b clone M96).

Ive got about 650 rounds thru it.

For a quality barrel I find that I have to spend ALOT of time cleaning the fouling from it.

The gun shoots fine.

I would think that this barrel would only require 3-4 wet patches of whatever solvent and the bore would be clean.

Does this seem odd?

Thanks,

I've never had a premium barrel that cleaned that easily. I use my barrels for F-class, so they tend to have quite a few (80+) rounds through them when cleaned.

At 650 rounds, you might be seeing some firecracking. That will tend to hold on to the fouling pretty well.

Like Boyd asked, are you seeing powder, carbon, copper, all 3?

"The gun shoots fine"!!?? Don't fix it if it ain't broke!! You may be asking for trouble if you get it too clean.

I think that your expectations are way too high. LW makes some pretty good barrels!

More bearing surface = more copper fouling(possibly).

Does this seem odd?

My experience is just the opposite. And find "ran over" fouling that is left behind when cleaning, to be a barrel killer.

If A) the fouling is black, and B), you're using any form of abrasive cleaner (JB, Rem-Clean, etc.) STOP!!!

The black you are seeing on the patch is not fouling, it's barrel steel; and you are slowly wearing down your barrel from the inside into a tomato stake.

Abrasives have no business inside a L-W precision barrel, and using any will void your warrantee.

Ok an obvious question , what ammo are you shooting ? Reloads I hope with modern bullets , not the nickel colored mil surplus.
