Bore scope

being an erstwhile safe technician, i have had a rigid (not the brand) scope for decades. the high cotton guys either had a camera and monitor attached, or MAYBE a flexible scope if they were really uptown.

it is simply amazing in comparison to those days what the teslong gives you for under a hundred bucks. i have had one for a few years, and find all kinds of uses for it. matter of fact, i just ordered a wifi adaptor (now part of the package) to use it with an android tablet. no more tether to a usb capable device!

For an optical scope, the Hawkeye is hard to beat with it's excellent clarity and ease of focus. However it is expensive and fragile, you bump it on the bench and it's going to cost you $300 to have repaired! The Teslong's are pretty good for what we do with them and you can't knock the value. I have one of each, I break out the Hawkeye if I see something that I want a closer look at, mostly when chambering a barrel.

Agreed on Teslong's..
For the money Teslong's are more than adequate to see what most people need to see.
I have 2 of them. They connect to my phone. Easy peasy.

Had a Lyman for 250 bucks, it quit working after a year, got a Teslong for 50 bucks, M-100 flexible .199 cable, works for everything 20 caliber UP, Digital Quality Pictures
I have a question: I'm looking at the Teslong, and want to use it to look at my two 20 caliber rifle bores, (unfortunately my 17's are feeling no joy). The mirrors start at .223 caliber, it does not show a mirror usable with a 204 barrel. Does anybody have a Teslong and use a side viewing mirror in a 20 caliber barrel?

"The updated version suitable for barrels of .22 /.243 /.30 /.38 /.40 and more calibers barrel."

which is a good bore scope?
Spend $150 and get the Teslong. They are fairly good quality and won’t break the bank. There are certainly ones that cost 3-4X more that are barely better quality. If you have unlimited funds, but a Hawkeye, otherwise Teslong gets the job done just fine.

I'm looking to get the Teslong, probably the WiFi version NGT100W, just have that question, will that unit have a 45 degree mirror to look at the bore side directly that will function on my 20 Caliber bore? The listing shows it only comes with .22 /.243 /.30 /.38 /.40 size mirrors, that means NO on .20?

If someone who has one that could verify, one way or another, that would be great. Thanks!

I'd buy it tonight and have it on the way if I knew the answer was yes.

I bought the mirror pack from them and 1 mirror was cracked when I received them. Emailed them and they sent a whole new set and told me to keep the rest of them. Very fast shipping and great customer service. I cannot help you on the .20 cal mirror but I would suggest calling them or emailing them. They are very fast to respond.

i can't speak to what is being shipped now days. but mine from a couple years back was marginally tight in .20. it was not the mirror housing, but the mirror itself. i put a bevel onto the mirror while slightly reducing the diameter using some very fine abrasive paper iirc. mirror packs used to be available so i could source a backup if i ham fisted the job.

From what many others have said in previous posts, it appears that the mirror may not fit. People seem to be using just the unit without mirror for a direct view. Not as efficient as seeing at 45 degrees, but might still work for you. I have nothing but praise for the Teslong units and have several versions but I don't have any .20-calibers. I do have .17s and they are definitely a 'no-fit'.

nope... mine fits .20 (now)

Okay, I think I'll call them first, then decide which exact version to get.
Looks like the version with a solid rod is favored over the soft coil? Seems like it would be easier to view, but I've never used either. Also sound like people also prefer the Wi-Fi version from what I'm reading?

Your choice depends on a few variables - flexible is much easier to transport. Rigid is a bit more precise when using. WiFi is essential if using IPhone since the phones don't supply enough power to run the direct-plug models. Direct-plug works great with laptops or android phones, making this version far more portable than a WiFi version. I have two flexible and two rigid (rifle and handgun lengths) in both direct-plug and WiFi versions and usually just plug it directly into a laptop I have positioned above my cleaning bench. If headed to a shop, the flexible version is coiled in my pocket so I can plug into my phone to check out barrels before I make a purchase - a practice that has more than once kept me from purchasing used rifles with shot-out barrels.

I bought 2 from Lyman and both quit working. Definitely won't be buying any more and I recommend to anyone reading this that you steer clear of them.
