bolt will not cock

Hello, first post here, I have a BAT 8 1/2" glued into a leonard stock with a jewell chambered in 6br, the bolt will not cock when worked, is this a simple fix? I had a problem similar before and it turned out to be a piece of bedding between the trigger and bottom of the bolt. Upon visual inspection of the gun, I could see no problems. thank you, Ron Tilley

Ron,
For some reason, the striker on the bolt is not being held back by the sear on the trigger. It could be due to a trigger problem, dirt jamming the mechanism, or a broken part), parts tolerance, insufficient or excessive clearance), or even due to thermal expansion.

If you can remove the action from the stock, take a good look at the trigger and sear as you cock the rifle. It is much easier to see how all the parts function relative to one another when the stock isn't in the way.

Try taking the trigger hanger out and turning the trigger around in it and reinstall it. A lot of hangers get put in backwards.

Lynn, it is that gun, but it shoots too good to sell, unless the price is right? I got the problem solved, but it is still going to get a long shoe trigger. this is the first 6mmbr that I have owned, the recoil or lack of is a real pleasant surprise. Stu did a excellent fit and chamber on this gun and it shows alot of promise. :D take care, see ya in Oct? Ron
