Bolt Lift Kit by Grimstod - Ben Chappell

I just had a bolt lift kit installed in my Savage 110 by Ben Chappell, you know him on here as Grimstod. As usual, the work was very nice and turn around time was outstanding - I mailed it to him Wednesday of last week, he received it on Friday, I got it back in the mail this Wednesday.

I was not surprised, I got the same service when I had him bush the firing pin. I was getting cratered primers before bushing the pin. Now the primers look normal.

If you need some work done, i highly suggest you contact Ben. His work is very nice and his service is exceptional. One of the main complaints I see about gunsmiths on the forums, here and others, is the slow turn around time and lack of communication. Ben gets work out and I have gotten emails when the work was complete. If you have been frustrated by other smiths in this matter, you will definitely enjoy working with Ben.

"I'm ashamed of my ignorance on this matter, but what in the world is a lift kit?"

Savage actions as they come from the factory have heavy bolt lifts which tend to make them difficult to shoot off of bags and front rest.

Several people have come up with modifications to reduce the lifting force required to cycle the action,

IE "bolt lift kits"

Thanks for that report. Good info to know

I've been slipping a twelve inch pipe over the end of the bolt for more leverage.
A longer "Tactical" bolt handle helps. A LOT lighter than 12 inch a pipe.
And NO MATTER what type of kit I add to my Savage actions to help ease the bolt lift, It'll never be easier than my factory Remington XP 100 action.:cool:

Yes it will. Also, since it's a FORD it's probably in for service 3-4 times a month. So, bolting that baby up will be no problem on one of your "visit's". Sorry, couldn't resist.
2001 F 250 with over 200,000 miles, been in the shop 3 times,,#1 ignition coil, #2 complete checkup before moving to Texas, #3 fuel pump, I guess that is alright
for a 17 year old truck.
