I have had a number of people ask what coolant/lubricants I used in chambering. For the last 6 years I have used a high pressure flush system using Rustlic 255R.
Bob Pastor has been very gracious to me by taking some wonderful pictures of my gunsmith tooling. Recently I purchased some of his Vipers Venom to use when threading. I have used a number of products in the past ie. Brownells Do Drill, Rigid Black threading oil, etc.
I have used the Vipers Venom threading about 30 barrels and found it to be a good product. My threads have never looked any better.
Two weeks ago I had to chamber a short barrel that I could not use my flush system on. So I decided to try the Vipers Venom. I cut the chamber conventionally at 52 RPMs reaming and cleaning every .025".
I used an air hose to clean the chips. and had the chamber done in 20 minutes. It has a great finish.
