Not here. Eh. I’d guess 1 in 12 we kill will be black in western ncAccording to information I'm finding is they actually are rare.
+1^^^ This topic came up last year or the year before. I did some searching and it was explained pretty well in this article. And the white spot on the chest seems to be carried by the black coyotes as it appears on several of the black coyotes' pictures in the article. Interesting read. JME.WDNot here. Eh. All of them I have killed does have the white patchBe interesting to have it genetics tested to see if it's a cross breed or all coyote. The white spot on the chest makes me think it's a mix.
I’m not gonna lie. I have killed a couple that made my heart sink seeing the colors of them walking up on wondering if you did indeed do the unthinkable. I’ll post another picture. You won’t believe what this coyote looked like.Out here, I'd be thinking, "OH CRAP!! I just killed Skippy!"jd
Looks like it mixed with a Border Collie (CoyDog)Be interesting to have it genetics tested to see if it's a cross breed or all coyote. The white spot on the chest makes me think it's a mix.
Yeah both look like coydog/mix to me, I've read there's lots back east but being out west never seen any or any coyotes that were anything other than as expected. Most of what I read about coydog was they were quite a bit bigger and there's genetic testing on some to back up the mix, but again zero experience with them personally. I'd never have shot either of these in daylight unless they were chasing livestock or something similar, just would have thought someone's dog was out and about.Looks like it mixed with a Border Collie (CoyDog)
I had a 50/50 Wolf Border Collie mix that looked rather similar
Maybe it's good to weed those out of the genepool looking so much like a family petYeah both look like coydog/mix to me, I've read there's lots back east but being out west never seen any or any coyotes that were anything other than as expected. Totally agree, but only if I was pretty darn sure it was not domestic. Hard to tell from pics, I'm guessing seeing them live they likely have a gate and movements like a coyote vs a dog. Donno since never seen one, maybe someone can get some video before poking holes in it.Maybe it's good to weed those out of the genepool looking so much like a family pet
Wolves and coyotes let their tail hang down lowLiking this…. if it wags it's tail, it's domestic, lol
I live in Central NC and have killed 7 out of around 300 coyotes. So I have seen less than 3% here. All have the white blaze on their chest
Or has its tongue hanging outLiking this…. if it wags its tail, it's domestic, lol
