Bix and Andy comp trigger issue

I see “refurbished” B&A for sale online. What is refurbished about them and why do they have enough inventory to market them? Are they serialized do you can track them when purchased new? Just makes me wonder when we are looking at $400-$500 triggers.

Absolutely not.
No, I have 2 new ones and opened them up, no mods or clean up. This should be a step they implement ASAP!
EDIT: I inspected the 2 Bix'n Andy new triggers, one never installed and it does look like it has been polished and the second one I had just installed in a gun I sold and bought back, haven't fired it but it too looks like it has been polished. So my apologies to Bullet Central. The older one I have has not been polished and is in a gun that I'll take out and "fix"!

You’re correct, but just delete the word ‘properly’.
I was not trying to bash the product but it has limitations. First time it quit working during the match and I fund cleaning fluid inside. I tried to be careful and not to get it soiled but recently it happened again.

Sounds like your bore guide isn't working correctly! There is also a reason all gun cradles slope downward (muzzle down). Hope you find what caused it. I'd also replace the o'ring on the bore guide, they do wear out.

5mm carbide. But you dont have to. When I first figured out the issue I was also replacing the bearings just because. I actually stopped doing that for a couple of years because I was not tracing actual issues to the bearings. Until one day I did. Back to replacing the bearings. The polishing will fix 99% of them.

Why would someone buy one of these B&A over a Trigger Tech Diamond? Also, my Jewell trigger has given me flawless operation for 25 years
I thought I'd try a TT and it wouldn't fit in my Panda trigger hanger(s). The TT is a sweet breaking trigger though. JME. WD

When I transitioned from an “Arnold Jewell” trigger to my first Bix, the rifle just seemed to go off when I thought about it. The old Jewells were supposed to be the best ones too, but it didn’t even come close to the Bix.

By far, the best trigger I have ever used and I won’t be looking elsewhere.

Should you need to work on a $400 trigger, no, but mine all work great.

Dave.

Just FYI

I had one fail on me several times, Alex fixed it.
I have bought several since and ended up sending all to Bullet Central to make sure they had the ball clearance issue resolved. They had been, and the triggers were returned quickly. (the issue was the trigger would not function reliably in the cold (below freezing), as far as I know the new ones do not have this issue.)

Once working good and kept Extra-CLEAN, the B&A do seem to be a solid option.

Cleaning is easy and fairly quick. I clean mine every quarter or before an important match. I seldom find anything in them.

All triggers are prone to issues. They are mechanical and needs to be maintained properly and know what you are doing when you start turning screws. They need torn apart and cleaned, examined and maintained. If you have no clue what you are looking at or doing, find someone who does. The issues that arise, figure out the "why" before writing them off as a problem. Could be traced back to inadvertent user error or mechanical...

IMO, the Bix is hard to beat for comps. I'd say 95% of BR shooters are using them...they are good trigger for sure. I have a hunting gun that wears one.

That is wrong. For the last couple years they're polished as they come.
FWIW after they are cleaned properly, emphasized properly, the sear engagement should be re set…. Takes 5 minutes.

What did you trace back to the non-carbide bearings? I did the polish to mine and that did the trick, just curious what to look for regarding bearings.

I have 4-5 bench rest rifles with Trigger Tech Diamond triggers, set around 4-5 ounces. None of them have been cleaned. Thousands of rounds on them. Never have failed to fire. They come with a safety lever, but for bench rest you can just shift into the fire position and remove the lever. No maintenance needed.
