Yeah, "That Guy" (lol) set a new F /TR range record. And one guy was shooting a new personal best high score that day till "he" cross fired. lol... First crossfire in my, um, that guys life.I will have to slow you down there a bit,but that guy didn’t beat Speedy’s range record he just set the new f/tr record.
I prefer my Varget under my chosen bullet. It's easier to chamber. How does it perform at 1000?Ooops sorry this was at 500 yds. I shoot a 175 SMK under 44.3 Varget, Fed Match Primers.
Sorry I also shoot a Berreta over/under or under/over and get the terms backwards some times.. lol..I was over Unger, and Unger was over Dunn.I prefer my Varget under my chosen bullet. It's easier to chamber. How does it perform at 1000?

That is a silly thing to say. If it were true then "bench rest" would be "bipod rest".I do not agree. Rest or bipod. It makes no difference, its all in the shooter and how good you are with what you have.
As usual, another CTSA Club Record was set on Saturday. The top competitors’ scores were in jeopardy until the last shot fired. The F T/R Class was dominated by *****, *****, *****, *****, ***** and *****. Due to a cross fire, ***** got bumped (crossfire) and ***** hung on the best he could with his .223 Remington. The big news….. The new CTSA F T/R Class record was set by *****, scoring a 599 / 39X with his .308 Winchester! Impressive!
Straight from the email. I guess I read it wrong, I can see both ways. The email said club record was broke, then in the bottom says the details. No harm no foul intended
No problem..now build that tr rifle and come out and shoot with us.
The advantage of a rest grows with the recoil. For a .223 and most 6mms, the advantage of a rest tends to be too small to show up in most F-Class scores.
I see enough dropped points due to .308 recoil management in F-TR issues in F-Class that I think a rest becomes an advantage at some point as recoil is increased. At moderate levels of experience, shooters who easily post HM scores in good conditions with a .223 can't do it with a .308 for a 60 shot event.
I wondered about that possibility but forgot to put it in the OP.
Are the dropped points technical errors or getting flinchy or a vicious cycle of both?
thanksMostly technical errors not having the precisely same hold and cheek weld every time. Not a problem anticipating recoil and getting flinchy, but different shot to shot movement of the rifle before the bullet exits the barrel. The .223 is very forgiving of those mistakes; the .308 is not.
That is a silly thing to say. If it were true then "bench rest" would be "bipod rest".
If you are so confident then show us your verified targets for group in the .100 inch range with your bipod setup.
Take this lightly, I'm just being a jokester tonight.

Ive shot some .0's off a bipod. Not verified, no one else around. Got pics though. lol. I was thinking more f class when I wrote that. But I still stick to my guns in saying buying equiptment doesnt buy scores.
You keep right on believing that. And, for the record, you have shot how many F-Class matches? But I still stick to my guns in saying buying equiptment doesnt buy scores.
I do not agree. Rest or bipod. It makes no difference, its all in the shooter and how good you are with what you have. There is no point gain on anything.
FTR shooter just beat Speedys range record at our club with a 308 and bipod... vs his super duper 284, 7saum, and 300 wsm guns with front rest, and all set up...
I personally have beat lots of people with a bipod.... Ive seen shooters with a harris bipod and suppressor beat the whole feild, but it didnt count because they had a suppressor on...
Theres no equiptment to buy points. Theres only equiptment to learn to use better and hone your own skills.
