Henry Rempel makes great bipods. With a good rear bag and stock with a fairly straight toe they make a real stable platform! Whether you you want a rest or bipod depends on what your doing.i currently use a harris bipod
for the new build in the foundation stock i have been thinking of a henry rimple bipod or a front rest
i have looked at the protector rest as a starter type
just curious why one over the other.

i do 500yds most of the time, but do want to go furtherWhat distance are you planning to shoot?
thanks, shooting will be off a bench 99% of the time."just curious why one over the other"
Stability and tracking lead to increased accuracy. A front rest coupled with a quality rear bag facilitates increased stability and tracking of the rifle. That intern leads to increased accuracy. A even a quality F Class bipod cannot match the stability and tracking you can get from quality F Class rest and rear bag.
The real question you should be asking is what is appropriate for your application. I'd want a quality rest for F Open. I would want a quality bipod like an Atlas or a GGG for PRS. I'd want the same or a pair of shooting sticks for Varmint hunting. I'd want shooting sticks or a good sling for field hunting up to mid sized game. I'd want a big fricking gun and fast feet for dangerous game.
Nothing wrong with a Harris bipod you understand but they do not compare to higher quality options. Kind of like a Wallmart budget rifle with a Simmons scope compared to a Browning or Tikka or other higher end rifle fitted with a Leupold or Nightforce.
I've got a 5-50 Tenmile. I love it. That scope will go toe to toe with the Nightforce Comp and perhaps even best it in some cases (such as color rendition). All of those sub 1000 dollar actions should perform as well. I know my Solus does.thanks, shooting will be off a bench 99% of the time.
this is my first custom rifle, and i want to try and get as much out of it as i can
this is the build, i did go with a foundation genisis 2 and the tenmile 5-50
started ordering parts
so i finally decided to dip into the world of custom bolt actions i pre-orderd an ARC Coup De Grâce Already talked with Southern precision, i will have the action sent to them, to fit a 24" M24 profile Brux it will be chambered in 6gt now to decide on the rest i am thinking: TT diamond trigger...forum.accurateshooter.com
I do have several shooter that I shoot with both 600 and 1000 yds that use a bipod. Some shoot prone and some shoot bench.i do 500yds most of the time, but do want to go further
