Bipod for 1000 yd shooting

I am looking for advice for a bipod for shooting a local steel match at 300-600 and 1000 yds. I would prefer not to spend much over $250 as this is just entertainment/ competition to me. Is the Fclass sold by Sinclair a decent one?

If it's for shits and giggles get a Harris bipod with an adjustable cant. The F Class Sinclair bipod is a slider bipod that requires a smooth surface (carpeting) for good results.

Pat I run 6 Harris bipods and a few cheap knock offs. The Harris will do for you also, especially on uneven terrain. I'm going to try a Magpul bipod for the heck of it.

I will be shooting off of a mat. I have really never used a bipod so it's kind of a different game to me. I have only used a rest, a bag or a sling prone.

F Class shooters using the Sinclair usually have a board underneath it. If you do shoot NRA sanctioned shoot there is a size rule for the board.

If you have a fore-end rail with a t-slot, the M-Pod is a pretty solid choice.

I've got fancier ones, mainly for ease of fine-adjustment, but the M-Pod is the one I always keep handy as a back-up or loaner. Rock solid, dang near indestructible, and decently priced to boot.

Sinclair is as good as anything for 223.

I have seen several posts that it doesn't handle heavy recoil as well as some other f-class bipods.

As a F-TR shooter ; I looked at Bi-pods from one end of the spectrum to the other , Harris , Phoenix , Sinclair , etc.... Then I saw the Flex-Pod developed by Dan Pohlabagh . It's not in the "main-stream" thinking when it comes to what people think a Bi-pod should be , but it has worked well for me . Price-point is lower than some of the more conventional Bi-pods , and it can be ordered with either a Pic-rail , or Anshutz type mount .

@moorepower I would suggest you speak with the match director before you buy anything. For an "informal steel match" You might be bringing/buying the wrong gear. The MD would likely guide you in the right direction.

Ask around and the match director for a loaner bipod for your first shoot. I’m confident someone would have a loaner laying about that was their first choice when getting started.

Thanks for the help guys! I will call the director. 6CM is what I will be shooting for now. If I start having too much fun I may step up to a .284. Too much shoulder pain for much more volume shooting.

As soon as SEB comes out with one with wheels like I suggested to him, then you will have the ultimate bipod! All the rest seem to jump.
