Big alpha coyote taken down.

That size coyote is getting much more common in western NY. Son in law sends me pics of the coyotes he’s killing and some of them are down right scary looking.
AP2020 honestly don’t think a 20 grain pill from a 17 cal is going to be as effective as that 6 mm your shooting on a dog that big. Will those smaller bullets penetrate enough?

I've killed many, many coyotes with a 17 Remington with very good results.

No doubt it will kill them. i was just saying its hard to believe it is going to be as effective as the 6MM Arc AP2020 been hammering them with.

Dead is dead, range is the only difference,i've killed dozens in five years out to 250 yards, with the 17 hornet, all recovered. When range increases it's 204 time,6mmArc gets it done no doubt.

in 2006, I killed one that weighed 63 lbs and a week later, a friend killed one that weighed 73 lbs. Fish and game confirmed that they were coy dogs, with a red wolf mix. Must have been a great dane running with the pack!

Size doesn't matter, a dead coyote big or small is what does,I show no favoritism nor do I discriminate. If I draw down, they all die. Some tiny guys here, but they soon grow up and decimate more favorable game species. They got whacked in a hayfield last summer.

Hit them hard in July and August! Seems like by Sept 1, they are starting to get educated. You will save a lot of fawns and turkeys.

Correct, however, May and June are when both adults throw caution to the wind as the 24/7 quest for food to keep hungry pups fed is in full swing. A prime time for sure.

July and August are terrible for bugs...ticks are nasty, mosquitoes will drive you insane.
My hat is off to anyone who can tolerate that for a few hours....definitely not this fellow.

If you're gonna be in the woods or close to woods here where i live in the deep south on the coast at that time of year you better be using a Therma Cell, bug suit, or drenched in "Off". No way you're gonna sit out there otherwise, mosquitos are BAD.
