Beware! USPS shipping

Just a heads up for anyone shipping.
Bought a Bipod from a foum member who shipped usps 2 day. Recieved it week and a half later. Shipped a stock out to a forum member on the 2nd. He still hasn't received it! Checked tracking and it's moving at Glacial speed. I called customer service and got the whole Covid line from them. Lesson learned.

That is bad, however the UPS in my area, since the Covid 19 and gun control nuts have really done some homework, will now not ship anything related to guns, other than a scope. Then even refused to ship some bullets ( not loaded ammo) for me yesterday, as they are gun related.
This is really getting out of hand and so stupid. But USPS did take and send them for me, in a flat rate box. Probably for less money than UPS would have charged anyway, with the weight of approx. 1200 bullets in a box.

I had a $1200 check for a rifle that never made it to Texas last month vie USPS. And my Trump check that was dated May 22 still hasn't arrived, though my parents dated the same day came two weeks ago.

If your item goes above the Mason-Dixson Line, USPS leaves a lot to be desired, however, in the
rest of the US, they do well.
I’m just above the MD line and the USPS has been mostly quite good but an occasional odd issue. I’m still using them. At least the insurance and damage claims are pretty good with USPS where Fedex and UPS intentionally try and screw you when they make a mistake.

Yesterday I received an order shipped USPS. Fargo ND to Sioux Falls SD, logical (I live between Fargo and Sioux Falls, but I realize things need to go between distribution centers).
Then tracking showed Delayed.
The next day it was scanned in Des Moines IA. Obviously that's not the normal route.
Then it went to Huron SD, which is the normal center we get our mail from.
Either their scanning/sorting system doesn't work well, or someone isn't paying attention.
That's 2 mail orders in a row that got delayed and an extended Midwest road tour thanks to USPS.
Speedy Delivery Service Co. - I get stuff the day after it ships. Great company.

What if your counter person at the USPS is a shooter? I made a huge mistake in showing him my 6 Dasher brass....it never delivered. $200 mistake, I now only ship my brass to be annealed will be thru UPS & will include $300 of insurance.

I have 2 orders from Midway USA stuck in Kansas City, Mo. One order I paid the extra shipping for UPS and the 2nd was their cheapy UPS/USPS. The orders were placed 2 days apart. I had a yellow ribbon warning from UPS that due to civil unrest, my packages are delayed. Well it looks like my 284 Win project will be put on hold again. Bummer!!!

Interesting you mentioned this. I have a rimfire tuner that was supposed to be here last week. It was drop shipped from the manufacturer through USPS and is taking it's sweet ass time.

And I just got back from sending a 2 day priority box!:eek::eek: Oh well! I can’t get it back now! Thanks for the warning!

USPS ships a lot via commercial carrier. Because COVID has reduced the number of flights and the byproduct is delays in delivery

I mail packages by USPS nearly every day. I may have a problem once or maybe twice a year. Be sure the address is correct and VERY legible. BUt if it ever gets side tracked for whatever reason, there will be a delay until someone finds it and gets things back in order. When I consider how many packages get mailed every day I'm amazed that they do so well.

I ship almost everything small flat rate box and while I've seen some delays, mostly insignificant. I had a guy last week wanted to send me 2 bolts on monday and have them back for the weekend. He shipped USPS express and I shipped them back USPS express and the bolts were bushed and back to North Carolina by Friday.

I've said before, one of the keys to success is to print out a zebra label.
