Best way to Add Weight to F-TR Rifle?

I need to add weight to an FTR rifle. It currently weighs 15.3 lbs. I originally was planning to attach a one inch diameter steel bar to pick rail using scope rings similar to Peter John's FTR you tube video, but it won't work with joypod joystick. I'm now thinking of zip tying 4 inch pvc tubes filled with 9mm bullets to weigh one pound each to my joypod along the top. What can possibly go wrong?

On another note, I could move the Bipod back and put the steel rod pointing forward, but it looks like a bayonet

You could add the the weight in the buttstock.

Are you really that dim?
What makes you think I am a troll.
Do you think I might have been responding to not cluttering the competition forum with basic equipment questions
It wasn't aimed at you, Poindexter. Geeeezz.... :p:p:p:p

New, longer, bull barrel will give you the weight you want and better performance.

When I built mine I weighted all the parts except a barrel, then ordered that for length and diameter to just make weight
.

Yes, a heavier barrel would be the best of both worlds with more weight and a barrel that would be less likely to overheat. Problem is the one I currently have was recently put on and I have another new one ready to go. Until they are both used up, I was looking for a temporary solution. The gun currently weighs 15.3 lbs so I have a lot of weight to add.

Do you have an adjustable butt plate?

If so, you might find some space in there where you can add some weight, either underneath the adapter plate, or inside the tube for the LOP adjustment. Lead shot mixed with 5-minute epoxy will do the trick... but it may not be 'temporary' and whether it'll affect the balance/tracking of the gun is always a question. Other spots people used to do this sort of thing was under the receiver, or under the barrel channel. I've also seen people do something like what you described in the original post, but with a chunk of flat iron stock, or c-channel, attached to the fore-end rail behind the bipod to limit the clearance issues you mention. Won't be pretty, but it's an option.

A lot of weight can be added in a small space using Tungsten Weights. But the stuff is expensive. Best to use lead where possible and finish off with Tungsten. It’s available from Amazon. Getting the proper rifle balance is important.

Don’t know what kind of stock you have. I have filled compartments with #9 or #12 with a piece of foam cut to fit over the top to keep it from rattling around.

Curious, does the stock have a full length anshutz rail on the bottom? If you do, you could acquire some round or rectangular barstock stainless steel. Have it drilled and tapped for t-rail fitting for the anschutz rail and slide it on. Depending on how much length you can get away with will determine as much weight as you can get outof it. Good luck with your project.
