Best Scope for 100-300 Benchrest on a 6ppc?

It sure might. Too bad it can only work in one out of 4 classes we’re talking about. At 32oz and $2800 its not even in the same class of the scopes the op asked about
Are you saying that it wouldn't work in SR score? The 2 that I have weigh a c-hair over 30 oz.

Full Disclosure……

I gave the wrong facts. I thought I started in middle of paper... I didn't... I started at bottom of paper. So the shot count was 6 and not 8. Here is the target. I wanted a scope that if I clicked 3 clicks... it went 3 clicks, and I had the confidence in it that it went 3 clicks.

Ok guys. Been a while but I am following up on this thread. I narrowed my choices to the Valdada or March 48x. Ended up going with the March only because I wanted to see the effect of more magnification. Needed new rings since it is a 30mm scope. I ordered high rings from Bat. Finally got everything mounted and set up.

The rifle weighs 10.6 pounds now. It weighed 10.5 with the Weaver and 1 inch rings. So I gained .1 lbs.

I have done no load work up on this rifle. Just loaded what the guy told me he was using- 28.7 N133, 1.727 off first ogive. I thoroughly cleaned the barrel.

Finally got to shoot with it this morning. Strangest thing I have seen in a while. My first seven shots tracked consistently side by side from right to left. I have no clue as to why. The wind was calm. I had flags out. I called myself drying the barrel with a patch with carburetor cleaner.

I adjusted the scope and tightened the rings and shot the groups above. The group to the left was 4 shots.

I reloaded the cases and shot three more groups. The group to the right was first. I shot two shots into the same hole, adjusted down one click and shot the third shot which hit about where I was hoping.

Moved to th next target to the left shot 4 shots. .19 group. Again not bad, but hitting the target higher than I expected. So, three more clicks down. 3 rounds left. Shot .17 group and hit where I was hoping.

I like the scope. Can’t say that I see a lots of difference in it and the Weaver. Need more time under the wheel.

If you cant see a difference between a March and a Weaver, I've got some great ocean front property in AZ i would love to sell ya cheap.

As long as you have the confidence and you see the result in paper, that's all that matters. Congrats on a fine looking rifle.

Thanks.

Hard without having time side by side to compare. I have a Leupold 36x on the rifle I am working with. I will see more after I shoot them both together.

I’ve never looked through a March but the glass on my Valdada is as big of a step up from the Leupold Competition as the Leupold was to a Weaver. If you can’t see a difference you should return that March. My guess is you’ll notice the difference when you look through the Weaver again.

Ive never looked thru a march and thought “this is some good glass”. I can see the weaver comparison. The weavers hold solid as a rock too- best value out there in a fixed power scope

I have several scopes that have glass that “wowed” me- PM II, NF Comp, Bushnell’s new XRS II. Not sure about the glass on the March.

There is no way a Weaver is remotely as good as the March 48 HM.... Second those ring and base are heavy, all you need are dove tail two piece bases and Harrells rings...... Jim

As Jim said, those rings are heavy...and not cheap either. 2pc aluminum bases will weigh right@.5 ounces and these rings would be my choice@1.7oz..So, 2.2ozs for rings, bases and screws. I can't find my notes for your rings so you might weigh them vs these numbers and see if it gets you where you need to be. It'll be very close.

Thanks Jim.
I have not spent enough time under the March to say. I just stated my initial response. Hopefully I will be able to in the near future.

The Bat rings seem super light. Will dovetail bases and Harrel’s rings cut down those two ounces that I am over weight?

Thanks Mike. Any particular reason for the offset rings?
