Daydreaming about buying a new scope for my 6ppc that presently has a Leupold 36x. Just wondering what the best options are with the pros and cons.

I see that the the Leupold 45x is very popular. Sightron has recently released a new 45x scope as well.

March has recently released a new 48x52 “Highmaster”. They also have a 50x52 that is still available on the shelves.

What is the best option?

Thanks

I have a great 45x for sale leupold http://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/leupold-competition-scope-45x-fine-cross-hair.3965731/

I have a March 48x52 Highmaster that is absolutely magnificent. Highly recommend them. A bit pricy though, $2500 here in Aus (US $1830.

So which would you choose?
Either you will be happy with. But if possible try and have a look through both on the same day. Maybe attend a match or someone who has both. As stated above the Nightforce is obsolete and when stock is sold that is it, so maybe you can get one at the right price.
If the $ don't worry you then get the March

If I had the eyesight I did back when I was in my early 40's I would pick the NF. Since my eyesight isn't what it use to be and the fact I need higher magnification at the longer ranges, go with the March.

I feel you. At 57, my eyesight ain’t exactly the same as it was at 40. And don’t seem to be getting better.

I emailed Nightforce to find out what the deal is with the fixed 42 Comp. Here is what I got back:

Jim,

When we developed the Competition 42x, we knew it would be in place to serve a smaller number of shooters than other segments of the market. Because the market for these is so small, it’s not equitable for us to keep them in constant production.

We will call the 42x a discontinued item in 2019. Even so, we have a good quantity of them on hand and will continue to sell them.

Additionally, we will be able to produce more in the future, as demand arises. It will likely be on a limited run basis, though.

Sincerely,

Dealer Sales

I’m glad I got one . I love mine best scope I’ve ever owned.

Yeah but you’re not showing up at a short range match.

I like

Valdada And March scopes

Because they hold POI better then any of the other scopes mentioned in this thread and I’ve owned them all.

Bart

I tell you what sold me on the Valdada 36 for my short range Benchrest gun (30br).

I did the box test with it.

I put a dot on the paper. Shot it at the dot, moved it 6" down, shot it once. Moved it 6" right, shot it once. Moved it 12" up, shot it once, moved it 12" left, shot it once. Moved it 12" down, shot it once. Moved it 6" right, shot it once. Moved it 6" up, shot it once, and that bullet hole touched my original bullet hole.

I called Bart and ordered a 2nd Valdada that afternoon.
