So we're finally getting a decent range locally. There was a lot of talk about it going out to 600 yards but it looks like 450 is all that we're going to get. This won't include sanctioned matches at 300 etc, just a place to shoot as far out as 450, and therefore 90% of shooting will be done at 450.
Not looking for anything esoteric, do not want to do any fireforming.
The 6mm BR is leading the pack at the moment, it's supposed to be accurate as hell to 600, so 450 should be no problem.
At the same time the 6mm BR doesn't have the fps to buck the wind as well as other rounds.
The 7mm-08 is a lot of carteridge for paper but should be easy as pie to load for.
On the other end of the spectrum the .223/22BR has the velocity to reach out to 450 very quickly.
Accurate at 450 yards, easy to load for, easy to get components for etc. Thoughts?
