Best Powders for the .22 PPC

If you happen to have a 8 pounder or 2 of T322 you might want to give it a try. ;) Right after you give that a try run down to the store and pick up a unicorn horn.

My Sako A1 heavy barrel single shot likes WW748.

A lot...... ;) -Al

Many years ago, I won a bench rest match with a 22 ppc shooting Rem 52's in Sako cases with a load of 25g of 4198 with Rem 52's, agg was .219

Later on, I had a flock of barrels in 22 PPC. There is some surplus powder floating around that produced unbelievable accuracy, WC844 with 50-55g bullets with little throat wear on p. dog towns. H335 also gave excellent accuracy, in the 2's with 50g Sierra lead tip blitz bullets

When working up load development with one 14T Hart barrel with 52g Remingtons, I shot 18 Five shot groups at 100 with an agg of .282 for the 18 groups, H322 with Fed 205's. First group at 200 yds was a .209

As Al mentioned, 22's do not necessarily like a hard jam, but often a slight touch to .003off is a great sweet spot for the custom 22 calibers with slow twist barrels.

A simple wind flag will instill confidence in your rig and reduce groups substantially. Without a wind flag, you are shooting in the blind with groups in the 4's being acceptable....you can not detect the "wind Switches" and the velocity drop/pick up.

I can't comment on 22 PPC experience, but I know that its tastes usually run like a 6PPC, which I have plenty with. I'd go with H322, H335, or N133 (Vihtavouri). The new Hodgdon XBR 8208 might just be fantastic, but I haven't gotten my hands on any yet. Have fun!

I have been using H335 lately, but H322 is my other go to for my .222rem and PPC. I got a bunch of A2520 I will be trying soon. I like the Sierra 50g blitz, and 52g MK with CCI primers.
