Best Location in PA for Match Shooter?

Central PA just above Harrisburg is a good area to be centrally located for a wide range of shooting sports. Great clubs in a short distance (HP, smallbore, sporting clays, trap, etc.)

MKM Precision in Venango County if you like ringing steel. Weekly club league and regional and national level PRS matches as well as rimfire matches.

Club league is a good time. Pretty low key...right now we shoot on Thursday evenings. 400yds out to 1k. 7 rounds every KYL rack for 49rds total.

About 15 years ago my wife and I came very close to moving to Idaho. Deal breaker was pretty much no competitive shooting to be had. I knew in the long run I would not be happy. My only problem now is picking which ones to shoot but that has sorted itself out since some clubs now allow you to shoot multiple times/ guns in the same class which I am dead set in opposition too, just a way to buy a win.

Yep, rolling hills, scenic drives to matches. I went to Bucknell, 22 miles south of Williamsport. I was aware that Williamsport was the home of the little league world series and long range bench-rest shooting but at that time of life in the early 90’s, both were equally irrelevant to me, as it was hard enough just to buy my first center fire, a 30-06 BDL 700, and that box of Norma 180’s lasted seemingly forever.

If you choose to live in a place that is NOT miserable, you are NOT a wuss or soy boy.

Actually, think you would be classified as smart. There should be no shame to enjoy your days.

Let me tell you about snow since I live in Erie and near the
Lake shore. We get dumped on huge because of the Lake.
It's called "Lake Effect". Where most of Pa. gets a bunch of inches,
we get feet. Now on the other side of the coin, Lake Erie does'nt
freeze over as much as it once did. People that owned snow
mobiles such as myself, took a loss, selling them off a few years
ago. Our winters have been warm up here. Climate change is
real and as we say up in Erie....If you don't like the weather, wait
15 minutes.....And beside shooting, our Lake up here is a world
class fishery thanks to mainly sportsmen. Perch, walleye, steelhead,
small mouth bass, northern pike, crappie and just about all other
panfish. And we have just about 4 perfect seasons up here, which
promotes our fruit crops. Yeah it's a hike to get to some good match's
but my roots are here.

And a side note.....I'm not far from the Ohio border. They shoot also !!

I know there is alot of shooting activity in PA but where would a central location be????

thanks all
besides shooting matches, what kind of area in particular are you looking for?
city- in town close to everything or
country ,farmland?
personally i chose outskirts of town, @5 miles, Huntingdon 16652 zip code. on the mountain beside Raystown lake DCNR (110 miles of shoreline) public hunting around the lake, unlimited HP boating, fishing, hiking,l
mountain biking. we get plenty of snow but not like being on top of the Allegheny mountain range!
takes @40 min ride to get to a road that has 2 lanes in the same dirrection. ;-)
