Vintage sniper competition

I am looking for some information on vintage sniper competition. I was hoping to find a match close to south central PA to observe and see what information i can get. Does anyone know when and where there might be one held close to my location. Thanks in advance.

Competition tracker on CMP site should list them for you. Don’t see any close listed now. Check out the CMP forum too.

They have one a year in Solon Ohio
You just missed it by TWO DAYS. :(

There is still the big one at Camp Perry.

Looking for something like that, 'close' means one day's drive.

Eastern Games in NC but this year's was in May

New England Games in September

CMP Vintage Sniper is 20 shots for each of a two-person team.
To make it worth while traveling regionally you probably need to be shooting some of the other Games classes.

Some facets of the match to be aware of.

1. 2 man team (shooter / spotter)
2. Each member takes a turn in each position (shooter & spotter) at each yard line (300 & 600)
3. 300 fired on SR3, 600 fired on MR1
4. You get a 5 minute sighting period at the beginning of each yard line (no separate sighting period for each team member) - sighters are as many as you can get in within 5 minutes - hope you have good pit service.
5. Fired from sand bags or sling (your choice)
6. No rear bags, no check risers outside of what is allowed on select rifles per rules (such as the M1C and D)
7. 20 second exposure on target to fire. 20 seconds in pits to mark and score.
8. Each team member fires 10 shots at each yard line.
9. You can use multiple rifles (each team
Member can have their own rifle)

I suggest if using one rifle each team member shoot it at distance and record their zeroes. 5 minutes isn’t really enough time to get both ppl on the gun.

The other thing about CMP Vintage Sniper is they decided to go with historical accuracy over fair competition.
Springfield 8x has a big advantage over any other rifle.
The swede makes up some of that advantage with it's 6.5 ballistic advantage.
Most other legal rifles are an option to participate.

this just plain aint true.
the rules favor american rifles
and completely ignore the fact that 6x scopes were fitted to european sniper rifles. banning some rifles and limiting others to 4x. i went once, took a third with a 91/30 mn.
i like the IDEA, but not the execution.
