Best Bargain ever

An FN single shot Mauser prone target rifle with a heavy 30” barrel in 6.5-‘06 for $450 on GunBroker. Horrible photos (a bunch of poor quality photos , each showing maybe a foot of the rifle). Horrible description. I wasn’t 100% sure it was an FN single shot. It was a Buy It Now listing. I didn’t want someone to buy it out from under me while I was waiting for the seller to answer questions. I gambled and got a gem.

A near mint Browning (FN made) Safari grade bolt action made in 1959, way before the salt years, in the not common 308 Norma Magnum clambering for under $700. Shot little.

And years ago a 100% stock Win 1873 in 44-40, full octagon barrel, descent bore, fully functional for $150.

I accidentally won a Mauser at auction for $65. Barrel & stock junk, action good.

Springfield Armory Champion in 45 ACP for $400. Gunbroker listing them at $1,200 at the time.

Ruger 77 MKII in 257 Roberts for $400. Gunbroker had 2 for $900+.

There was an estate sale about 3 years ago up in Idaho when we were visiting the inlaws over Thanksgiving weekend. I had nothing better to do so I headed on over. Amongst the stuff were two rifles. One was a Remington 700 VS in 17 Rem, the other was a 40XKS in 220 Swift. $385 and $500. Both brand new in the box. I was told the old man bought them years ago for a hunt he never went on. I told them they were worth probably double that, but they shrugged it off. I threw out my shoulder getting my wallet out.
