Best 20 caliber barrel - LOL

20 Bobcat is Kevin's version of a 20-222 with 40° shoulder. It makes for a sexy looking little case with it's squared off shoulder and I very briefly considered it when I had my 20-222 built but I didn't want yet another rifle I have to fireform for so I hit the easy button and went straight 20-222.

You my friend, seem to have a problem with 20 calibers!!! ( in that I don’t see a 204 ruger or 20 practical in that list!!! Lol!)
Well I thought this might be slightly misleading,so to clarify my friend.
Those are the customs, the 2 VarTargs are Coopers with a Wilson and an I don’t know as it was purchased used. The 2 XR 100s in 204 are probably Remington barrels, but to be honest I’m not sure if Rem outsourced the 20 calibers, seems to me they could build and twist as they please. They sure shoot and clean up well.

Mine Have shot Bugholes
Not doubting that at all. I was only responding to the statement that a person can’t go wrong with a Kreiger. All barrel manufacturers can and do make total duds occasionally. I bought a Kreiger that was complete trash. A copper mine that couldn’t keep three shots inside 3” at 100 yards. Obviously a rare exception but yes, a person certainly can go wrong with any brand barrel.

I have used X Caliber barrels for a few 20 cal builds, great accuracy.
I have used about 7 x-caliber .20 cal. barrels, the first ones were great, the last two were sent back with defects, they did replace them but, it took some time . my favorite barrel is a Krieger. and like Tommie said I have seen one bad Krieger in my lifetime.

Did Kreiger make it right?
Part of what makes a company good is how they take care of their customers.

l learned the other day my ''new to me'' Cooper 20TAC does NOT like 40gr VMAX.
Jarrett Rifles barrel maker checked it. Cain Jarrett said the barrel was cut rifled and hand lapped. No tool marks in rifling or chamber. lt had been shot very little and the barrel was of very good quality. They could not air gauge it because they dont have a 20cal fitting. l dont know the barrel twist or the barrel maker. Coopers usually have Wilson barrels.
l have been told by a forum member with VAST experience that 40gr VMAX DON'T shoot well in 20TAC. Hornady #9 Edition seems to agree. ln their listed loads for 20 Tactical on page 126 they only show 32gr VMAX

Cartridge I plan to build is a 20-222 simply because if the amount of Lapua brass I have in 222. Thanks in advance.
You answered your own question didn’t you? Why would you build anything else when you have all the brass? Case closed.

I have two cooper 20 tac's that I shoot 32 vmax's, my other 20tac shoots 40 vmax just fine, but it has an 11t kreiger on it. Many people swear by the 39 blitzking but at my volume of shooting they are too rich for my blood.

The twist can be established with a tight fitting patch on your cleaning rod and a tape measure by simply noting a complete revolution and measuring the distance.

Before you say go search the topic I have and there’s a ton of information on it. Many of the threads are old though, a few fresh ones but the barrel world changes and I was wondering what some of your current opinions are. I‘m wanting to shoot 32-40 grain bullets, don’t ever see me using this rifle with 55 grain Bergers so I was thinking a 1-10 twist in a #5, just need to get one ordered and thought I’d ask. If you’ve had multiple 20 caliber barrels even better. Cartridge I plan to build is a 20-222 simply because if the amount of Lapua brass I have in 222. Thanks in advance.
Sounds like a good plan 1/10 twist will do the 40s well. Whats the LOL for? seems like a valid question you asked.
