Berger vs Hornady, difference in consistency??

I'm asking specifically about 30 cal Hornady 208 amax and Berger 210 vld or Berger 200 Hybrids but any experience of side to side comparison is welcome.
Have you experts tested the bullet consistency between Hornady and Berger ?
I understand each barrel is different so one may not like one type of bullet but there are hummer barrels which seem to like everything. Has anyone tested these bullets in one of those barrels?
Is Berger that much better? With most top shooters shooting Berger it seems that way but I haven't seen any side to side comparison done on them.
As I understand the plastic tips shouldn't melt in 308 velocities and our low temps up north, plus new ELD have apparently solved that issue anyway.

Just trying to decide between those for next season of fun. BTW my competition is with myself only and I do fully understand I'm never gonna get a call asking to join national team (yes I'm admitting to be a crappy shooter) so wondering how much bullet selection matters.

I am not expert, and I have not shot many of the 30 cal bullets of either brand, but do shoot a lot of 6mm,and from my experience with both berger and Hornady I can tell u that i have had better luck with berger as far as consistency From lot to lot, and far less flyers with berger's. Not saying Hornady won't shoot, because they have shot good for me. but when switching lots on Hornady I have seen 15ths differences in bearing surface length. As for berger I seen 5ths at most. Just look at what most guys shoot in competition and that should give you a good idea.

I know most of my experience is with 6mm, but any bullet company worth there salt should make consistent products through out there product line. Hope i have helped at least some.

I have shot both in 300rum. my best groups at 1000yds is always bergers. I have shot some game with both. hornadys go through-bergers stop in 14 to 15in. hornadys sometimes have to track bergers DIT (dead in tracks). went to Africa and guide couldn't believe 6 large animals drop dead at 1 shot. I can tell there is big difference in impact! we shoot a lot at rocks long range and bergers really hit harder. my buddy shot his .223 @900yds and you could hardly see 68rg hornady hit and with 70gr berger you could see big dust cloud and pieces of rock fly everwhere. also have to take 150yds off berger to score hit. needless to say we only shoot bergers!

fourpower Interested in the Bergers on African game. Any of the shots require penetration on a large animal?
What game did you take and what was the shot placement? Thanks
Bill
