Everybody would swing back to the Sierra SMK's !! But wait ??Until this mess is settled Bergers should be banned from all state and national competitions. Now tell me would that not be a hilarious match to watch with guys out there banging away with whatever bullet they found in find in their sock drawers. Hornady, Barnes, Nosler's, even Speer. Ha! What fun that would be.
8.5 twist stabilize?Everybody would swing back to the Sierra SMK's !! But wait ??
Sierra was just recently cleaned out of all stocks of 180 class
bullets. My favorite 183's are history for the time being.....
Here's a tip.....Bruno's just received a quantity of Hornady 190gr A-Tips.
I bought 100 just to test. Price was lower then expected. You would be
surprised that the twist rate needed is less then a 180 Berger VLD. Has some
thing to do about that .200" long tip. I ran the numbers thru JBM.....
This is a good idea but would be hard to do. It would be tough to know they weren’t shooting a bergerUntil this mess is settled Bergers should be banned from all state and national competitions. I just ran them for 2750 fps on JBM = 1.742 for an 8.5 twister8.5 twist stabilize?
Robin ran his Atips at 2750 ish in a 1 in 8.25 twist..I just ran them for 2750 fps on JBM = 1.742 for an 8.5 twister
which I use. You have to make sure you plug in the .200" tip
length. If you don't, the number gets knocked down to 1.359
which is still good.....Checking a 9.5 twist give's 1.403. and good
if your looking to help with torque. Anything over 2750 FPS is
gravy !! Could even get to just needing a 10 twister ??
Hornady 190gr A-Tip / 1.66" long / .200 tip length. I believe
Robin Ardoin was using these in his 7mm Sherman / F-Class
master class. Not sure what twist rate he is running or speeds.
I was shooting them at 2000 yards and beyond and with the same ES vertical dispersion was noticeably worse than the Berger’s and a few a tips disappeared mid flight.R
Robin ran his Atips at 2750 ish in a 1 in 8.25 twist..
I tried then in my 1 in 9 twist 7mm 270 and they shot like a laser at 100yds at 3000fps..
At 1000yds outwards like a shotgun..
My 1 in 8.25 saum stabilising fine at 1000yds at 100fps slower..
That's kind of dumb. That's punishing them for working their butts off and still not keeping up with the demand. Supply chains are absolutely taxed on every product in every segment. That's like punishing gun owners in Peoria because of gun laws in Chicago.Until this mess is settled Bergers should be banned from all state and national competitions. It appears you missed his humor. That's kind of dumb. That's punishing them for working their butts off and still not keeping up with the demand. Supply chains are absolutely taxed on every product in every segment. That's like punishing gun owners in Peoria because of gun laws in Chicago.
Yeah, I'm trying build a 7mm program just like everyone else. I can't get anything either. I'm not going to trash talk the company for their business decisions. If they can't get jackets or cores, they don't need punished for it - it's punishing enough. As soon as everyone's focus jumps to Sierra or Nosler or Barnes, then supply/demand issues will wipe them out as well. Berger clearly makes a product that shooters find superior. I'm sure they'll attempt to make every business decision that helps them sell more product profitably.
If that was humor, I would agree that I missed it.It appears you missed his humor.
